Flip through any popular diet book or website and you will notice that they all have one thing in common: the explanation of the diet is short enough to be written on the back of a matchbook cover. “Eat Less.” “No Carbs.” “Exercise More.” The vast majority of the bulk comes from Food lists that most people skim past and recipes no one will ever attempt.

For the record, authors of diets do not expect you to prepare any of their recipes. If you don't believe us, try a random recipe from a random diet. More likely than not, you will find it unworkable. They are frequently missing key ingredients and directions. The measurements are often inaccurate. The final results typically range from bland to inedible. These recipes also occasionally contradict the advice dispensed in the diet.
Rob Wolf’s bestselling diet book, The Paleo Solution, forbids all legumes including peanuts, peas and all varieties beans. According to Wolf, legumes are “[g]ut irritating . . . anti nutrients." [p. 98]

It should come as no surprise that The Paleo Solution includes a recipe for roasted green beans. [p. 240]

Nearly every diet book we have read reflects this same attitude: recipes are so inconsequential they don’t warrant proofreading.
We take a very different approach. Instead of overloading you with recipes no one will ever attempt, here are a few favorites that we make all the time. These are some of our favorite foods. Moreover, we tested all of these recipes on strangers. We have been assured that they are as easy-to-follow as they are healthy and delicious.
