We recently ate at a perfect DYC meal at San Francisco restaurant, Delfina. We eat there a lot. It’s walking distance from our house and usually has room for two at the counter. Delfina is best known for its homemade (fatta in casa) pasta. Impossible on DYC? Not a chance.
We started with prosciutto over persimmons and pomegranates. It was amazing and it also satisfied our geeky love of alliteration. For anyone who is wondering, we are aware that prosciutto is on the Food List under Limited meats. We typically eat it only when dining out. We find that foods are automatically Limited if we keep the out of the house.

The prosciutto was followed by poached octopus with fresh ceci beans (chick peas). We shared an entrée of a roast chicken paired with Brussels sprouts and braised chicories. Luckily, Andrea likes dark meat and Steven white. So sharing a roast chicken is easy.
We washed it down with a couple of glasses of white and a bottle of red from Montepulciano.
Italian on DYC? Just avoid the pizza, pasta and dessert. We understand those are big caveats, but we assure you that we ate a world-class, decadent meal that was low in calories, high in flavor and perfect for anyone who wants to lose weight without giving up alcohol.
We have said it before: we all have to make sacrifices, but giving up drinking does not have to be one of them.
